 2023 Preview 


       Colbert Heights completed the 2022 season with a 4-6 record. Last year Colbert Heights just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 3A region eight with a 2-4 region record.

       Colbert Heights was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Wildcats want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.4 points a game.

       Since 2010, Colbert Heights has gone a combined 71-68. Their 51.1% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 3A over the past thirteen seasons.

       Over the past 25 seasons, Colbert Heights has managed to compile a record of 137-131. Their 51.0% winning percentage ranks 30th in Class 3A and 180th in the AHSAA.




       The Wildcats will be under the direction of new head football coach Tyler Jeffrey as they enter the 2023 season.  Coach Jeffrey, seven years after signing with North Alabama football and graduating from Colbert County takes over the reins at Colbert Heights in 2023.

       The Wildcats could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region eight this season with a few breaks and a little improvement. Colbert Heights came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

       The Wildcats open the 2023 season on the road against non-region opponent Lexington on Friday, August 25 at McMeans Stadium. Last year the Lexington Golden Bears finished with an overall record of 9-3 and in first place in Class 2A region eight. The Golden Bears lost in the second round of the Class 2A playoffs to Tuscaloosa Academy by a score of 23-20.

       Colbert Heights and Lexington have met a total of 31 times on the football field. The Wildcats have a 12-19-0 record against the Golden Bears. They last met in 2022 with Lexington winning by a score of 34-0.
